Phuket is an ideal starting point for one or more days of diving in the open sea of the Andaman. Exciting dive sites are located with the Similan Islands north of Phuket and extend south of Koh Phi Phi to the Tarutao Marine National Park.
There is a wide range of dive centers, dive tours and dive boats. While only a few years ago many dive boats were converted former fishing boats, there is now a large selection of modern dive boats.
From Phuket there are many diving tours as day trips. They mainly visit dive sites in the region of Koh Phi Phi between Phuket and Krabi. Further very beautiful diving areas like for example around Koh Haa can only be reached with diving safaris lasting several days.
